Contributes to the university's mission through teaching, research and service, some variation by academic unit. The Huckabee College of Architecture (HCOA) at Texas Tech University invites applications for a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track position in the History of Architecture at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin in Fall 2025.

Major/Essential Functions
The successful candidate will teach core surveys in global architectural history and elective seminars at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. A Ph.D. is required by the time of appointment. The area of research specialization is open. The History of Architecture at the HCOA is regarded as a broad, evolving discipline embracing a diverse range of topics and methodologies. Expectations for research and creative activity include publications, presentations, and exhibitions in national and international peer-reviewed venues, seeking external funding, and supporting students. Service activities include participation in college committees, university service, professional service, and community service and engagement.

Required Qualifications
In line with TTU's strategic priorities to engage and empower a diverse student body, enable innovative research and creative activities, and transform lives and communities through outreach and engaged scholarship, applicants should have experience working with diverse student populations at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels within individual or across the areas of teaching, research/creative activity, and service.
Specific required qualifications are:
  • Ph.D. in the History of Architecture
  • Evidence of a clearly defined research agenda
  • Detailed knowledge of the history of architecture across different periods, cultures, and geographies
  • Evidence of experience and/or potential to deliver a broad survey of global architectural history
  • Evidence of excellence in classroom teaching
